Kwadaso Agricultural College (KAC), Ghana

Kwadaso agricultural College (KAC) was mandated to train middle level Agricultural personnel who came out with certificate in General Agriculture since its inception in 1922 at Kumasi. Kwadaso Agricultural College is the first diploma-awarding agricultural institution outside the University system and is under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA). It aims at equipping extension agents with the requisite knowledge and skills in modern agricultural techniques. KAC is located in Kumasi, Ashanti region. The programme is based on the same training principle as the BSc course at University of Cape Coast.

The purpose of the SAFE-KAC program is to contribute towards the agricultural development efforts of the nation through the production of qualified human resource in the field of agricultural extension at diploma level who can serve the smallholder farm families to help them increase agricultural production and productivity.

The program at Kwadaso Agricultural College completed 17 full cycles with the graduation of 14 students of the 15th intake group in 2015. Despite of the fact that there is no more direct assistance from SAFE, KAC continues to be active in SAFE activities. Following the need assessment survey, KAC is currently revising the curricula to include additional courses into the program (including agribusiness, value chain and food safety and quality standards).
