Program Coordinator

Remote, Abuja/Kaduna

SAFE Africa (Song Abubakar Foundation for Empowerment in Africa) is dedicated to uplifting young girls, women, and youth across Africa through education, empowerment, and environmental sustainability initiatives. The Program Coordinator will serve as the operational backbone of the organisation — a senior role for someone ready to own a programme, not just execute tasks. Reporting to the Strategic Director, this hybrid role is based in Abuja or Kaduna, with regular travel to programme states (including Adamawa and Borno) and may include occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Management & Operations: Oversee end-to-end implementation of all programmes; develop work plans, schedules, and budgets; ensure timely delivery of milestones and reports; coordinate field logistics; manage consultants and field staff.
  • Resource Mobilisation & Fundraising: Lead fundraising efforts including prospecting, concept notes, and proposal writing; maintain a live funding pipeline; map new funding opportunities from bilateral donors, foundations, and multilaterals; represent SAFE Africa at donor meetings and forums.

  • Stakeholder & Partner Relationship Management: Serve as primary relationship manager for funders, partners, and government counterparts; build relationships with NGOs, CSOs, state governments, UN agencies; represent SAFE Africa in technical working groups and coalitions.

  • Communications, Visibility & Public Representation: Represent SAFE Africa at conferences, community events, and media engagements; support development of reports, case studies, briefs, and social media content; meet donor visibility requirements.

  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL): Oversee MEL framework implementation; ensure quality data collection and analysis; lead donor reports and learning documentation; coordinate baseline, midline, and end-line assessments.

  • Travel & Field Presence: Regular travel within Nigeria for field supervision and stakeholder engagement; international travel for donor meetings and partnerships.
